The goal was to make it clear that The New York Times is a trusted source for independent, deeply reported journalism, with an on-the-ground reporting team that’s worth paying for.

This film features never-before-seen pictures taken by New York Times photographer Bryan Denton during his coverage of the Iraqi counterterrorism forces in Bartella, Iraq, on October 26, 2016. During this assignment, Mr. Denton was hit by an ISIS-deployed suicide car bomb. As he describes his experience on the ground, we see some of his outtakes, leading up to the explosion and the final shot featured in The Times article titled “ISIS Sent Four Car Bombs. The Last One Hit Me.”
