Synopsis
After 32 years of the last visit of a Pope to Colombia, Pope Francis was about to come and visit the country. The Presidency asked us to do something during the visit that people could get involved to.
Strategy
Today, it’s very well known that the communication used by the young people is based on hashtags and emojis. We had a thought around that and saw it as an opportunity to do something with the Pope. Our intention was to create a message from him, inviting the young people around the country to join together, reunite and live in peace.
Relevancy
In just one event, we did something with the biggest influencer in the world of Catholic Religion: Pope Francis, and the most important president in the history of Colombia: The Nobel Prize President Juan Manuel Santos. Through a simple PR stunt, we brought Catholic Religion to the popular Colombian Culture.
Outcome
The campaign had more than 4.5MM impressions across different digital channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and Nonconventional television). The Blessed Emoji came to real life (outside digital) in 7 different cities through flags, banners, cartels and messages. All of the movement generated more than 200K USD in earned media. About 600MM Colombian Pesos.
Execution
On September the 7th, during one of the most important events in Colombian history, from the hands of Nobel Prize President and Juan Manuel Santos and his youngest son, the Pope did something unprecedented: He Blessed an emoji.
