EntrySummary
In the United States, millions of children learn simple life lessons watching educational TV shows starring puppets. These lessons are often taught with simple, catchy songs that have repetitive lyrics and phrases.
BriefExplanation
Each video opens like a typical educational children’s TV show, complete with a friendly jingle and logo. But once the songs begin, things quickly take a turn as puppets start teaching the devastating lessons inner-city kids are forced to learn every day, like how to know if Mom is overdosing on drugs, how to survive a drive-by shooting and what to eat when there’s no food in the house. After the puppets finish their lessons, supers deliver the startling truth that this lesson came from an inner-city kid who learned it at a staggeringly young age. At this moment, viewers are invited – within the video experience - to get involved by clicking a “donate now” button to help break the cycle of poverty, addiction and violence inner-city kids face.
