Outcome

In just the first 6 months, the hmbldt dose pen has over 10k products in the market and has made its way to 200 dispensaries across California - delivering a safe, healthy alternative to everyday wellness. The dose pen continues to receive recognition and awards - including one of the best inventions of 2016 by Time Magazine, which received over 500mm impressions. Our digital presence has seen steady growth - with a current community of 5.8k+ followers and 12mm potential impressions across social media. And this is just the beginning. We expect to be in over 500 dispensaries by the end of this year and will continue our mission to be the leader in innovative, plant-based medicine providing access to cannabis to millions.
Synopsis

Americans spend billions of dollars each year on pills riddled with side effects, ultimately requiring you to take more drugs to treat those side effects. But more people are turning to Mother Nature’s greatest gift: Cannabis. However, as cannabis becomes accepted as a legitimate remedy, there’s still the stigma of “reefer madness.”hmbldt introduces cannabis to open-minded people looking for a holistic solution to achieve health & happiness in mind, body, spirit, by creating a new, science-driven medicinal cannabis brand.
Strategy

hmbldt promotes a complete behavioral and cultural shift for cannabis usage: it’s not just about getting high, it’s about finding health and happiness.We deliberately positioned hmbldt as a wellness brand that’s fueled by plant (cannabis) power. Not only are we going after cannabis users who use the plant to promote well-being, we’re also recruiting an audience of progressive, modern non-smokers looking for alternative forms of wellness to treat ailments like anxiety, depression, PTSD and sports injury.
CampaignDescription

hmbldt offers a new generation of cannabis products. Our formulas were engineered to target common ailments, including sleeplessness, anxiety and pain. We designed an innovative dose pen that provides precise, accurate dosage, and was awarded a US patent. A first of its kind in the industry. The minimal, functional brand identity and packaging feels more at home in pharmacies than marijuana dispensaries. The clean aesthetic signals safety, efficacy and premium quality, while the clearly defined need states cut through the all-too-common clutter and confusion in the cannabis space.By developing a cannabis brand with beautiful, innovative product design and a science-focused approach, hmbldt was able to become not just a new kind of cannabis company, but a first-of-its-kind health and wellness brand, shedding the stigma of pot and creating an all-new category.
Execution

The first iterations of logos, packaging and product mockups took visual cues from the geography of our home, Humboldt, CA: earthy colors, delicate typography, intricate pack forms, imagery of coastlines and redwoods and vectored patterns derived from the Emerald Triangle’s topography. As our product offering shifted from raw cannabis flower to scientific formulations, we re-designed the brand identity to look more at home in a pharmacy than a dispensary. We translated this clean, minimal, functional look to our packaging, both the pen and the box it comes in. This scientific aesthetic signals safety, efficacy and premium quality. The patented hmbldt dose pen looks like no other device on the market. It includes a number of first-of-its-kind features and technology to provide precise, accurate dosage.
